A few months ago when I first got my 8830 I said I didn't like the keyboard for a variety of reasons, and recently I replaced the silver keyboard with a black one with great usability results.
After staring at the fresh toothless grin of my BB for a week I decided to take drastic ($4 USD) action and get a matching black bottom plate. A few friends also wanted new keyboards so I was ready to place another order to cnn.cn. I picked up an Orange bottom plate and it arrived this weekend.
While I kind of like the Orange logo, it was also the smallest and can be easily removed with a little sugar. Having some continuity for the bottom half of the device made a big difference I think, definitely worth shelling out the big bucks for.
For anyone looking to try this, grab a Husky 8-in-1 Torx set from Home Depot ($6 USD) and get a couple really small slotted screwdrivers. The bottom piece almost needs to be broken to remove it, and peeling back the four clips on the bottom edge with alternating slotted screwdrivers is the best way to get started.
