Recently I've been using a Verizon Pearl 2 (8130) BlackBerry. Aside from having a camera and not having a QWERTY keyboard, I'm also able to tether over Bluetooth on my Mac (and Windows).
The BlackBerry OS that shipped with my 8130 wouldn't pair with my Mac, and I had to download version 4.3.0.170. Close the Desktop Manager, install the update and delete C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader\Vendor.xml prior to loading the new OS.
- Launch the Bluetooth Setup Assistant.
- Choose Mobile Phone and click Continue.
- When prompted for a passkey on the phone hit the Escape button, and press the Continue button in the Setup Assistant.
- Once the passkey is dislayed in the Bluetooth Setup Assistant enter it on the phone and click Continue.
- Check the box that says "Access the Internet with your phone's data connection" and click Continue.

- When prompted to configure the internet connection use the following information:
- Phone Vendor: Sprint
- Phone Model: PCS Vision
- Username: your_cell_number@vzw3g.com
- Password: vzw
- Phone Number: #777

- Click Continue, and Quit.
- On the BlackBerry browse to Options > Bluetooth and open Device Properties for your computer.
- Change Trusted to Yes. Save and close Options.
That's it. If you'd like you can enable TCP Header Compression from Network Preferences > Bluetooth > Advanced > PPP > Configuration, but I haven't found this to make much of a difference.
Using Speakeasy's Speed Test yields fairly good results:

That's ~38KB/sec down, 13KB/sec up.

This came in very handy on my recent trip. Thanks again for showing me how to set it up.

Can I do this with my cellular south account?

@Ed You should be able to. I think with Cellular South you just call #777 and leave the username and password blank. I'm not sure if you need to have a tethering plan on your account.
